It's about being college and career ready. Period.
The goal of Career and Technical Ecucation is to provide you with a real-life educational experience that builds the skills necessary to compete in the college and career market of the 21st Century. My classes are project-based and require the use of critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills. I believe that you will find that your participation in CTE was one of the best decisions you made while in high school. The future starts NOW!
More college students major in business than any other field of study. Why is that? Smart students realize that, regardless of their choice of careers, a solid foundation in business is the key to being successful. Wouldn't it be great if students could major in business NOW? You can. At John F. Kennedy High School we are proud to be one of a select number of high schools in the United States to offer High School of Business. Students selected for the program follow a business elective pathway from their sophomore through their senior year. The pathway includes: Leadership (9th non-required), Principles of Business and Business Economics (10th), Principles of Marketing and Principles of Finance (11th), Principles of Management and Business Strategies (12th).
We are proud to be be partnered with Arapahoe Community College, Littleton, to offer college credit for the High School of Business program. Students who successfully complete the program will receive 9 credit hours of business provided at no cost by Denver Public Schools. That is a savings of more that $1300 for our students and their families. In addition, it reduces the number of credits required to complete their Associate of Arts - Business degree upon graduation. Students can complete their associate degree at the Community College and transfer to a four-year college in Colorado to complete their Bachelor of Arts - Business degree at a considerable savings.
At the John F. Kennedy High School of Business, all students are members of the John F. Kennedy Business Association. The association is affiliated with both Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and DECA (An Association of Marketing Students). This relationship provides our students with a real-world connection to the business community and the opportunity to practice the skills learned in High School of Business and to build an impressive portfolio for college and career.
As part of the prestegious IB - Middle Years Program, we offer Year-5 Design instruction with Multimedia I and Multimedia II. These classes introduce students to a variety media skills including multimedia presentation, graphic design principles, and editing graphics for presentation. Students are also members of the John F. Kennedy Business Association.
